SUMMARY:EVRA MARSH DAY - Evening Bat Walk 21st August
DESCRIPTION:JOIN US FOR A BAT WALK ON MARSTON MARSH! 21st August \n\n\n\nOur bat walk will be led by an expert volunteer from the Norfolk & Norwich Bat Group. They will provide the equipment and knowledge to discover the various species that utilise the habitats within the marsh. \n\n\n\nWe will meet at 8:15pm at the golf course entrance to the marsh\, at the bottom of Abinger way. This will allow us time to sort out bat detectors and learn how to use them. After a safety briefing\, we will set off along the paths\, walking slowly and stopping at intervals to listen for bat activity. Our bat experts\, will provide interesting facts throughout the walk and there will be lots of time to ask questions. We will aim finish at about 10:00pm. \n\n\n\nWe hope to hear a number of bat species including Daubenton’s\, Noctule and Pipistrelle. But bat activity is always dependent on the weather\, so nothing can be guaranteed. \n\n\n\nTo allow more people to discover the world of bats\, bat detectors will be shared. Please donate to Norfolk and Norwich Bat Group Norfolk and Norwich Bat Group – Registered charity number 1201847 as part of booking this event. We suggest £5 per person. \n\n\n\nThis guided walk is suitable for anyone aged 8 years and above (Although please take into account the late timings). Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The distance will depend on bat activity\, but will be less than a mile. We will walk at a slow pace for approximately 30 minutes depending on bat activity\, interest and conditions. However\, as some terrain may be a little rough and as it will be dark\, please ensure you feel confident walking in these conditions. \n\n\n\nBOOKING ESSENTIAL! SUMMARY:EVRA 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM)
DESCRIPTION:The EVRA Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday 16th October 2024 at Eaton Golf Club starting at 7.30pm where we will formally conduct the business of the Association including presentation of reports and accounts for 2023/24 and election of the Committee. The Agenda for the AGM will be posted on the EVRA website prior to the meeting and copies will also be available on the night together with other reports and the accounts. Any other business must be notified to the secretary at least 14 days prior to the meeting (2nd October 2024). \n\n\n\nNominations for the Committee should be sent to the Secretary\, via the EVRA postbox in Waitrose or 54 Greenways\, by 13th October and should be signed by the proposed\, proposer and seconder. In the event of there not being enough people nominated to fill the available places on the committee\, the annual meeting may decide to accept nominations from the floor. \n\n\n\nThe interval will be followed by discussion on the Norfolk Net Zero Project: \n\n\n\nEaton is one of seven Norfolk communities selected to participate in the project.  The focus of the Project is supporting people to increase energy efficiency\, install renewable heat and power\, and move to lower-carbon modes of transport. We will hear from two Eaton residents who have moved from gas heating systems to electric and their experiences of this. We would also like to hear from Residents on what you see as the barriers to you adopting such systems for feedback to the Norfolk Net Zero Project Team. \n\n\n\nThe Agenda for the AGM and other documents for the meeting can be found on the website at: Reports to EVRA AGM – Eaton Village Residents’ Association

SUMMARY:Donkey Lane Tree planting
DESCRIPTION:EVRA has purchased 125 hedging trees via the Norfolk County Council Million Trees for Norfolk Scheme to fill some of the gaps on Donkey Lane. EVRA planted around 1000 trees back in 2015 which are thriving. \n\n\n\nThe trees are supplied as whips around 40 cms tall and will be collected on the morning of Saturday 10th February. They will need to be planted that weekend so we are planning two sessions on the Saturday 2 to 4 pm and Sunday 10 to 12 am for this. We will have canes and tree guards to support and protect the young trees. The trees just require a slot in the ground to plant although any with larger roots might need a small hole. The trees will be planted to fill gaps along the hedgerow. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe varieties ordered are: \n\n\n\n\nHawthorn (Crataegus monogyna)\n\n\n\nDogwood (Cornus sanguinea)\n\n\n\nHazel (Corylus avellana)\n\n\n\nGuelder rose (Viburnum opulus)\n\n\n\nCrab apple (Malus sylvestris)\n\n\n\n\nWe would welcome your help to plant the trees on both or either day. Bring a spade if you have one ( a narrow blade would be helpful) and gloves. We can show you how to plant the trees to ensure that they have the best chance of survival. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n Meet on Donkey Lane behind the houses on Greenways.
