A resident has sent us copies of house sale brochures from 1960 when a section of the Eaton Village Estate was being developed by Miller Homes. The brochures are for houses largely built on Cheyham Mount, Ebbisham Drive, Cranleigh Rise and on Greenways from Cheyham Mount to the turning area near the post box. The final brochure includes annotations by the new owner about the colour of carpets for each room and who will have which bedroom!

The News Chronicle article is “of its time” emphasising the benefits of the new modern houses. The prices have increased considerably since 1960 but were probably beyond the reach of many people then.
