Strawberry Field, Eaton

A Friends of Strawberry Field group has been set up to help manage this open space along Bluebell Road in Eaton. Strawberry Field sits between Bluebell Road and the River Yare and has several marked footpaths leading down to the river. The Friends group is working with the landowner to help maintain and improve the site for biodiversity.

Matt Tomlinson runs the Friends group and can be contacted via his email at: matttomlinson@virginmedia.com

Activities during 2021 have included volunteers raking-off the cut meadow to encourage a greater variety of wildflowers in the years to come.

You can read more about their activities on their Facebook page at: Friends of Strawberry Field, Eaton | Facebook

Strawberry Field formally became part of the Yare Valley Walk and the Norwich Fringe Project installed footpath way-markers and undertook other work as part of this . You can read their blog about this at: Strawberries and Rain – Norwich Fringe Project (wordpress.com)

The site provides access to the River Yare and the donkey sanctuary. There is also a track running parallel to the Bluebell Road cycle path which provides an alternative, more attractive, route to the UEA which rejoins the road near to the North Park Road junction.
