Marston Marshes Volunteer Group – First Working Party on Saturday 18 February

The Marston Marshes Volunteer Group has been formed and in January we had a guided tour of the marshes led by Matt Davies from the Norwich Fringe Project. Matt showed us the different areas and habitats around the marshes and talked about the work proposed to maintain the path and the environment generally. Our first working party is on Saturday 18 February when we will top up and repair the soft areas of the new Easy Access Path and do some scrub clearance. We plan to have further working days about once every three months.

There is plenty of work to do on the marshes and more volunteers would be welcomed. We will gather at the Eaton Village end of the marshes from 10:00 am and work will continue until about 3:00 pm. Volunteers can stay for as long as they wish. Matt Davies will lead the work and provide all tools and training and hot drinks. Old clothes, waterproof shoes or wellies and a packed lunch is all you need. If the weather is really bad then we will postpone the visit. If you wish to join us then please contact EVRA Vice-Chair, Chris Stebbing via email: evra.vc@live.co.uk
